'Ek - The Power of one', is remake of the Telugu blockbuster hit 'Athadu' starring Mahesh Babu. It is a full length action treat. Camerawork and
cinematography are simply superb. But Ek lacks the same emotional feel that Athadu has.
Story:
An orphan Nandu (Bobby) becomes a hit man and is good at it. He is given a task by the politician Anna Mhatre (Sachin) to shoot at him during an
election campaign to gain sympathy wave. However, before Nandu takes the shot, someone else shoots Anna and he dies. The blame falls on Nandu
and he flees from the scene. In this process, he gets into a train and bumps across Puran (Akshay) who is on his way to home in Punjab after many
years. He is all excited and narrates his story.
Meanwhile, the cops chase Nandu and accidentally the bullet hits Puran who dies on the spot. Nandu escapes from there and decides to go to Punjab
and inform about the death of Puran and there he comes across a very warm and big Punjabi family who mistake him to be Puran. Soon, Puran
becomes a member of the family and in no time gets close to the grandfather (Kulbushan), aunt (Zareena) and the others. Puran's chilhood
sweetheart Preet (Shriya) falls in love with Nandu, thinking him to be Puran. on the other side the cops assign the unusual policeman Rane (Nana) for
this case and he successfully finds his way to Punjab. Will Puran's family accept Nandu when it is revealed the Nandu is not Puran? What happens
net forms the crux of the movie.
Performance:
Bobby performs well, his body language is apt, action scenes are brilliantly executed by him. Shreya does good job in her small role, but the
chemistry between bobby and Shreya seems to be missing. Nana Patekar as cop is good. All other supporting cast are apt.
Music:
Music is average. Couple of tunes are hummable.
Verdict:
'Ek - The Power of one' has both mass and class appeal. Can be watched once for good action and classy look. If you happened to watch the original
Telugu movie 'Athadu', 'Ek - The Power of one' can be skipped. No comparision between the two. 'Ek - The Power of one' can be rated as average
movie. | |
