Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' is one of Sharukh's most awaited movie of the year. Aditya Chopra and Shahrukh paired up after eight years. After the record breaking hit "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (1994), followed by "Mohabbatein" in 2000, the third venture Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is also capable of keeping the audiences glued to their seats.

Story:
Surinder Sahni (Shah Rukh Khan) a simple, clean hearted, honest man working for Punjab Power, leading a humdrum life, when he meets his total opposite and finds love in the flamboyant, fun-loving, vivacious Taani (Anushka Sharma) for whom the whole world is her canvas and she paints her own life with the colours of rainbow all until unforeseen circumstances changes it all and brings them together. Mr. Sahni becomes Raj Kapoor and plays the double role of husband and dance-partner but the wife never spots the difference. While it sounds implausible, it's really a tale about multiple identities, suppressed desires, marital incompatibility and above all pure love that almost verges on magic realism.

Binding the couple together is a reality dance contest that eventually brings the pair together under circumstances when Sahni goes for an image makeover and participates in the show with Tani as a loud and flamboyant man by the name of Raj Kapoor. The climax takes a turn with Tani's realisation of her true love for her spouse.

Performance:
The movie belongs to Anushka Sharma's bubbly performance. She makes for a very believable Punjabi kudi, and compliments are in order for sheer confidence, strong screen presence and a dazzling smile as Taani. Shahrukh is brilliant as Surinder Sahni but fails to impress as Raj. Shah Rukh constantly treads a fine line, making Suri extraordinary and special within his ordinary exterior, precariously balancing flair with restraint. As Raj Kapoor, he is equally delightful. Vinay Pathak as SRK's side-kick manage to evoke a few laughs.

Music:
Music by Salim-Sulaiman's is admirable. Music is a mixed bag. 'Haule Haule' and 'Dance Pe Chance' are decent tracks. The title track too is very pleasing and touchy.

Verdict:
Overall, 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' pictures Shahrukh in a completely new role as an ordinary layman. No larger than life character or lavish sets this time for Shahrukh. He does Justice to this new concept and his character. There are some light entertaining moments and good music that makes Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi worth a watch. Movie can be rated as above average.
